Welcome to the Lordsbridge Team

Monthly Newsletter

April 2023

Eternal God,
in the cross of Jesus
we see the cost of sin
and the depth of your love:

in humble hope and fear
may we place at his feet
all that we have and all that we are,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Spotlight on

Thirst

Thirst is run by West Cambridge Christian Youth Ministries (WCCYM) and is a real highlight to the month. On the second Sunday of most months we gather together young people in school years 7 to 13 to spend an evening together eating, having fun and learning to be more like Jesus. We always start with a meal provided by a local church (this month was the Lordsbridge Team’s turn), which is always enjoyed, and gives young people and leaders a great chance to chat about their weeks just gone. Next, we come together for the service part of the evening that always begins with some form of crazy game! Whether it is sliding After Eights down your face, passing polos on a straw or getting the young people in a tangle, it is a great informal way to break the ice.

The band, made up of mostly young people, will then lead us in a few songs to help us prepare ourselves before Jesus and begin thinking about Him. After that, our guest will come and share with us in a relevant and engaging way for the young people. We have had guests such as Matt Farrer from Scripture Union, Robbie Thomson from Satellites/Big Church Day Out and David Newton from the Lordsbridge Team! The evening often includes small group discussion to help young people explore further what has been shared by the guest speaker and sometimes includes some form of reflection (David Newton led us in a time of Communion). When the evening wraps up, the leaders try to tidy up while the young people continue to cause chaos and enjoy each other’s company.

If you know of young people in school years 7 to 13 who’d like to come along, do invite them to join us on the second Sunday of the month, 6.00 – 8.30pm at Cambourne Church. The next session is Sunday 14th May.

Big Questions

Do you have a question about faith, life or God that you’d like us to try and answer? Send your questions through to David Newton (davidnewton@lordsbridge.org) and we will pick three to answer in a short podcast published on our website. No question too big or too small!
