Events
Priesting of Rev’d Barnabas Leeke – This Weekend!
Our wonderful curate, the Rev’d Barnabas Leeke will be ordained priest on Saturday 29th June, 5.00pm at Ely Cathedral. Everyone is welcome to join the service.
Rev’d Barnabas will be celebrating presiding at his first communion at our Team Service on Sunday 30th June, 10.30am at St Mary’s, Comberton. This service will be followed by a bring-and-share lunch. Everyone is very welcome to come and join us.
For the lunch St Mary’s will provide liquid refreshments. Please bring either food for your own consumption or a plate of something for a buffet table. Please bring your own plates/cutlery and cup/mug. We look forward to seeing you there!
Open Meeting of the Bourn Deanery Synod – this Thursday!
Open Meeting Bourn Deanery Synod will take place on Thursday, 27 June 2024 at 7.30pm at The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Harlton (Coach Drive, Harlton CB23 1EN). This meeting is OPEN TO ALL, not just to Deanery Synod reps.
There will be two presentations – the first is a piano-illustrated talk on ‘Leading with Grace’, by the The Cann Twins (AKA Rev’d Claire Robertson and Antoinette Leigh), and the second, by the Rural Dean of Huntingdon, is on new approaches to church governance, ‘Experiences of supporting three congregations with a single PCC.’
There is parking near the church and toilets will be available in the Village Hall, which is next door to the church.
WCCYM Summer Party
The WCCYM Summer Party will be on Sunday 14th July at 4pm to 7pm at Hardwick Primary School. We will have games, inflatables, a barbecue and a short Christian talk. It is set to be a great time and we can’t wait to see anyone in school years 6 to 13. To book, click here.

Reopening of All Saints, Haslingfield
With a well timed Haslingfield Choir concert just a week after the scaffold came down, the Nave of All Saints Church, Haslingfield has been reopened.
The cafe style audience filled the church and the church felt renewed and most beautifully conserved. The arches have been picked out skillfully in paint to match the stonework of the pillars. The stone and plaster walls have been repaired and limewashed. The clerestory windows have been releaded and the medieval glass protected. Not a cobweb in sight!
So much more to do to maintain and protect our Grade 1 listed medieval building but with God’s will we can carry on fundraising for our next phase of internal work in the aisles and the chancel.
For six months we have been holding our Sunday services in the Chancel. Cosy, but the choir stalls have been uncomfortable for many. What a joy to be back in the Nave!

Pentecost Poetry Project
In May, schools and churches across the Team were asked to contribute to our Pentecost Poetry Project, creating poems, artwork and prayers around the Pentecost theme. We’re all here, bemused and confused

Team Rector Recruitment Update
At the Team Council meeting, the Team Council and PCCs approved the final version of the Team Rector Profile, which acts as the job description and person specification for the role. The Team Council, on behalf of the PCCs, also agreed to advertise the post, and so the Team will be looking to do this as soon as possible.
